Madrid (DPA): Zenit Saint Petersburg maintained their perfect record in the Champions League and clinched top spot in Group H Tuesday with a 2-0 home defeat of second-placed Valencia, on goals from Oleg Shatov and Artem Dzyuba.
Valencia never looked capable of saving the match and had defender Ruben Vezo sent off 10 minutes from the end.
Zenit are the only team to have won their first five matches.
Meanwhile in Group E, Bayer Leverkusen battled out what could prove to be a useful 1-1 draw at bottom team BATE Borisov, who took an early lead through Mikhail Gordeychuk.
Admir Mehmedi levelled for Leverkusen in the 68th minute. The Rhinelanders are third in the group, level on five points with Roma, who were due to visit leaders Barcelona later Tuesday.
Also Tuesday, Bayern Munich were to host Olympiakos and Chelsea were to visit Maccabi Tel Aviv.
