KARACHI/LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Processions across the country culminated peacefully as people observed Youm-e-Ashur on Wednesday to pay homage to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, amid strict security measures.
The day was observed to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala to uphold the truth.
Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions were taken out in all small and big towns of the country. Ulema and Zakireen highlighted the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of the battle of Karbla.
In Karachi, the main Youm-e-Ashur mourning procession of Alam, Tazia and Zuljinnah was taken out from Nishtar Park and was concluded at Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar, after passing through its traditional routes.
The main procession of Ashura in Islamabad was taken out from Imambargah Asna-e-Ashri in Sector G-6. The procession was passed through its traditional route and culminated after Maghrib prayers.
In Rawalpindi, the main mourning procession was taken out from Imambargah Ashiq Hussain and terminated at Imambargah Qadeemi.
In Lahore, the main procession was taken out from the Nisar Havali and terminated at Karbala Gamay Shah after passing through its traditional routes..
In Peshawar, scores of Tazyiya, Alam and Zuljinah processions was taken out from the Imambargh Syed Alam Shah in Koocha Bazaar, which, after passing through Qissa Khwani and other traditional routes, finished at the same venue.
Stringent security measures were taken on the occasion to thwart any untoward incident. Bomb disposal squad (BDS) swept the routes ahead of processions, while law enforcement backed by paramilitary stood guard all along the way.
The processions were monitored through drone cameras, whereas snipers were positioned at high-rise building along the routes to mark and timely eliminate any miscreant. Hospitals were also put on alert for any emergency situation.
