Washington: US President Donald Trump has extended the requirement for a $100,000 fee—imposed on certain new H-1B visa applicants—for another year. According to the White House, this measure will now remain in effect until September 2027.

The H-1B visa allows US companies to hire skilled foreign workers across various sectors, including technology. The Trump administration maintains that certain aspects of the program have been misused and that the hiring of low-wage foreign workers has adversely affected American employees.

Under the new order, certain H-1B applicants located outside the US will be required to pay $100,000 alongside their visa application; however, exemptions may be granted in specific circumstances based on the national interest.
