ISLAMABAD: The US Charge d’Affaires met Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, in which he praised Pakistan’s sacrifices against terrorism.
In an important meeting between US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker and Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar, a number of issues including bilateral relations, digital media cooperation, tourism promotion and Pakistan’s role against terrorism were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, the US Charge d’Affaires appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for the stability of its economy, continued development and peace and stability. He said that Pakistan has made exemplary sacrifices against terrorism, which have played an important role in strengthening global peace.
Attaullah Tarar said on this occasion that Pakistan is playing a leading role against terrorism and our sacrifices are not only for our country but for the peace of the entire world.
He said that the government has introduced a comprehensive policy to eliminate fake news and promote digital media, which needs to be made more stable and effective.
The Federal Minister for Information said that Pakistan is a country rich in natural beauty, cultural diversity and historical heritage and the government is taking concrete steps to promote tourism so that Pakistan can gain a prominent place on the global tourism map.
He said that the promotion of tourism will not only increase economic activities but will also further strengthen the relations between the people of the two countries.
Attaullah Tarar further said that legislation is also being made for the welfare of journalists, so that better facilities and protection can be provided to media workers. The US Chargé d’Affaires appreciated the steps taken by Pakistan for the protection of journalists and expressed satisfaction over the promotion of mutual cooperation.
