THREE PAKISTAN NAVY COMMANDERS PROMOTED TO REAR ADMIRAL

Commodore Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan, Commodore Asim Sohail Malik, and Commodore Sohail Ahmad Azmie of the Pakistan Navy have been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, recognizing their distinguished service and leadership.

Rear Admiral Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan was commissioned in the Supply Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1993. A graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, and the National Defence University, Islamabad, he has held key command and staff appointments, including Commanding Officer of the General Stores Depot and PNS RAZA, Director Procurement (Navy), Directing Staff at PN War College Lahore, Director Pay, Pension & Accounts, and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Education) at Naval Headquarters. He is currently serving as Director General Munitions Production at the Ministry of Defence Productions, Islamabad.

Rear Admiral Asim Sohail Malik was commissioned in the Operations Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1995. He is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College and National Defence University, Islamabad, and has completed Defence Services Command & Staff Course in Bangladesh, as well as a Masters in Operational Research & Analysis from China. His career includes commanding PNS ZARRAR and PNS SHAMSHEER, leading the 9 Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron, and serving as Chief Staff Officer to the Commander Pakistan Fleet. He has held several key posts at Naval Headquarters, including Director Operational Research, Director Naval Operations, and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operational Plan). He also served as Commander Combined Task Force 150 at the Combined Maritime Forces headquarters in Bahrain. Currently, he serves as Director General C4I at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad.

Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmad Azmie was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1996. A graduate of Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth (UK), Pakistan Navy War College Lahore, and National Defence University Islamabad, his distinguished career includes serving as Directing Staff at PN War College, Commanding Officer of PNS NASR, Commander AUXMIN-9 Squadron, Commandant of Pakistan Naval Academy, and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operational Plans) at Naval Headquarters. He also commanded Combined Task Force 151 at CMF Bahrain and served as Deputy Commandant of Pakistan Navy War College. He is currently Commander Central Punjab and Commandant of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore.

The promotions highlight the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to operational excellence, strategic leadership, and dedication to national maritime security.
