Washington: Following the shooting incident in Washington, US President Donald Trump, while giving an emergency press briefing from the White House, said that this was another attempt on his life and that such incidents have occurred in the past as well.

President Trump said in his address that there have been several attempts to target him over the past few years, including at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and while he was playing golf in Palm Beach, Florida.

He said the shooting at the annual dinner was proof that the White House desperately needs a state-of-the-art ballroom and extraordinary security measures. He said we need security like we’ve never seen before.

According to the president, a US intelligence officer was shot at close range during the incident, but was saved by a bulletproof vest. Trump said he had spoken to the injured officer and that his condition was out of danger.

He added that the attacker advanced towards a security checkpoint with multiple weapons, which was quickly subdued by brave Secret Service personnel.

President Trump claimed that he had released the suspect’s photo and CCTV footage of the incident on social media to maintain transparency.

He was accompanied by the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Director of the FBI during the speech.

The president said that the event was held to promote freedom of expression and unity, but the incident has once again highlighted security concerns.
