Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kaushal Mendis snatched the important honour from legendary wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara in the T20 format for Sri Lanka.
In the first match of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup played in Dubai, Kushal Mendis caught Bangladeshi batsman Mehidy Hasan behind the wickets, after which his total catches in T20 cricket reached 46.
Earlier, this record was held by Sri Lankan legend wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara, who took 45 catches behind the wickets.
It should be noted that Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the first match of the Super Four.
