South Africa’s home series against the West Indies, scheduled for January 27 to February 6, is likely to be curtailed.

The aim is to provide both teams with the opportunity to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled in India and Sri Lanka in time.

The teams’ ‘support period’ for the World Cup will begin from January 31, and South Africa may have to cancel at least two matches of the series.

The matches scheduled for February 3 and 6 conflict with the closest dates of the World Cup.

Although teams are not required to spend the full support period, they will be required to leave early if they play warm-up matches.

Both boards are continuing to consult each other on the matter.
