MOSCOW: As a result of “false information” regarding what Moscow refers to as a “special military operation” in Ukraine, Russia has limited access to the music-streaming app SoundCloud.
Russia has clashed with major digital companies to control the flow of information since sending forces to Ukraine on February 24. As a result, Twitter’s service has been delayed and Meta’s Facebook and Instagram have been blocked.
In conjunction with the posting of materials that contained incorrect information about the nature of the special military operation on Ukrainian soil, Roskomnadzor limited access to the SoundCloud service.
It went on to say that the information in question pertained to the special organization’s combat strategy and tactics, namely “attacks upon civilians, missile strikes on civilian infrastructure, and relating numerous civilian casualties at the hands of Russian military.” It added that access to the service had been asked to be banned by the office of the Russian Prosecutor General.
