KARACHI (INP): Provincial Minister for Information and Local Government Mr. Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed all the local bodies, including KMC and KWSB to repair all the dilapidated roads and drainage lines located in the areas from where Muharram procession would to be taken.
This he said while presiding over a meeting of Local Government Department on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Local government top officers, Administrator KMC, MD Karachi Water & Sewerage Board.
The minister briefed about the arrangements to be made to facilitate the mourners of Muharram processions.
The minister directed KWSB administration to repair all the damaged water and sewerage lines in the areas of Imam Bargahs and then KMC start carpeting the damaged roads there. “This must be done within a week and cleanliness of the areas must be ensured,” he directed.
He also directed all the local bodies to declare emergency and cancel the leaves of the staff members who are already on leave and also ban entertaining the leave applications till 10th of Muharram.
Mr. Sharjeel directed the local bodies to facilitate the mourners right from the first day and provide them full facilities. “I want to ensure proper maintenance of streets lights, availability of drinking water and cleanliness of the roads and streets. There should not be any complaint,” he said and added that he would pay surprise visit of the areas.
He further said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has already issued directives to make fool security arrangements during Muharram.
