Security has been tightened in view of the possible arrival of Iranian and American delegations for talks in the federal capital Islamabad and important instructions have been issued by the police to the citizens.
Police sources told Express News that security has been put on red alert around Nur Khan Airbase and Islamabad Airport, and it has been decided to seal the areas around the airbase.
Police sources said that the extraordinary security arrangements are to ensure the safety of the planes of high-level delegations, and police personnel will be deployed on the rooftops of houses.
Regarding security measures, it was informed that special security conditions have been imposed within the limits of Newton, Sadiqabad and Chaklala police stations. In the first phase of Rawalpindi, it has been decided to keep restaurants closed within the limits of three police stations from 12 midnight until further notice. Restaurants, parks, beauty parlors, and markets have also been decided to be closed.
Police sources said that snooker clubs, fitness gyms, paan shops, kiosks, barber shops, banks and bakeries will also remain closed until further notice, as will the flying of drones, aerial firing, and pigeon shooting, and the police have started distributing warning notices in all markets.
Police sources said that strict action has also been warned for non-compliance with the orders.
Police sources said that a decision to close public transport and goods transport has not been taken yet.
Sources said that the process of obtaining certificates from the owners of buildings located on the routes has been started and special measures have been taken for the security of the delegations. The owners of houses, shops, plazas and hotels coming on the route will be held accountable.
The police have directed that parking will be banned and entry of unrelated persons will not be allowed during the route, strictness has been made mandatory for hotels and guesthouses, complete record keeping of guests and daily report submission to the police station.
The administration has said that movement from roofs, balconies and windows will be restricted and the owner will be responsible for any violation. It has been directed to report immediately in case of any suspicious activity or security breach, while legal action will be taken against the violation.
Extraordinary security arrangements in Rawalpindi
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held at the Police Lines Headquarters under the chairmanship of CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani in Rawalpindi, where it was ordered to ensure foolproof security in the city and it was informed that extraordinary security measures have been taken regarding the movement of foreign delegations.
As per the orders of CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, Rawalpindi Police has put security on high alert across the city. Senior officers are present in the field and supervising duties.
According to Rawalpindi Police, more than 10,000 police officers and personnel are performing security duties, including more than 600 special pickets, closely monitoring all the entrances and exits of the city, additional personnel have been deployed on important highways, special teams of elite commandos and trained snipers have also been deployed on duty.
The CPO said that teams of Elite Force, Dolphin Force, police station mobiles and other quick response units have been deployed on alert patrol, a strict checking system has been implemented across the city and security has been further increased at entry points.
He said that search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations have been intensified across the city, strict monitoring and checking of suspects is also underway, security is also being tightened and strict monitoring is being carried out around sensitive installations, important government and private places and residences.
CPO Khalid Hamdani said that Safe City, 24/7 monitoring through CCTV cameras and modern technology, officers are checking the situation reports from the control room moment by moment, a special traffic plan has been formulated to maintain traffic flow and alternative routes have been provided for the convenience of citizens.
He said that Rawalpindi Police is utilizing all resources to ensure foolproof security and protection of lives and property of the public.
