- ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, sources have revealed that Bushra Bibi’s daughter is likely to be allowed to meet her mother in Adiala Jail soon.
- This development is the result of secretive efforts and back-channel contacts aimed at reducing tensions related to family meetings.
- According to informed sources, there is a strong possibility that this meeting will be possible after contacting the relevant authorities through informal channels.
- Earlier too, Bushra Bibi’s daughter was allowed to meet her mother, however, when the details of this meeting were later shared with Bushra Bibi’s sister and later surfaced on social media, she faced difficulties on further requests for the meeting.
- According to sources, the authorities termed this revelation as a violation of the understanding that the details of these meetings would not be discussed publicly.
- Meanwhile, efforts are also underway to allow Imran Khan’s sisters to meet him. However, sources say that progress in this regard may depend on the family giving a written assurance that they will refrain from making public statements about the meetings.
- In addition, sources said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been informed of its reservations over the recent statements of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
- These reservations came after statements attributed to Afridi were allegedly made during a public gathering in Pishin and during a meeting with journalists associated with foreign media at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, on May 14.
- According to intelligence reports, Sohail Afridi allegedly made statements that are considered to be direct criticism of the army, due to which there is concern and displeasure in government circles.
- According to sources, these reservations were later conveyed to the PTI leadership. A source claimed that these concerns were also conveyed to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who allegedly assured that if the allegations against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister are true, it will not happen in future.
- However, when contacted by The News, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan refused to comment on the matter. The meeting of Bushra Bibi’s daughter in Adiala Jail is actually being described by some quarters as a result of ongoing efforts to reduce political tension and take confidence-building measures.
