Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has launched a three-day special Food Safety, Hygiene and Public Awareness Campaign to ensure the provision of quality, clean and healthy food to the residents of the Cantonment. The campaign is being conducted under the special instructions of Military Lands and Cantonments (ML&C) Headquarters and under the supervision of Cantonment Executive Officer Amir Rashid.
On the first day of the campaign, the Assistant Health Officer (AHO) and In-charge Food Control Cell, along with their team, conducted detailed inspections of various key areas, commercial centres, food outlets and catering services across the Cantonment.
During the inspections, food preparation methods, storage procedures and cleanliness arrangements were examined, while the relevant business owners were directed to strictly ensure compliance with the prescribed food safety and hygiene standards. In addition, awareness brochures were distributed among shopkeepers and citizens to promote awareness regarding the consumption of clean and safe food.
According to the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board administration, the health of citizens and the provision of quality food to them are top priorities, and no negligence or carelessness in this regard will be tolerated.
The special campaign will continue until November 8, during which monitoring of compliance with food safety and hygiene standards will be further strengthened.
