Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announces free wheat seeds to wheat farmers

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced to provide wheat farmers with Rs 6 billion in free grain.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the farmers to start selling wheat at 3500 per maund immediately. Under the decision, registered farmers will be given 10 sacks of grain per acre from the purchase center.

A decision was taken in principle to purchase wheat from Kisan Card holders on a preferential basis, and payment to the farmer within 72 hours of purchasing wheat at a rate of Rs. 3,500 was made mandatory.

Strategic Management Committees have been established at the provincial and divisional levels, which will monitor wheat procurement issues.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the launch of the “Work with Punjab Government” program in Punjab, under which internship opportunities will be provided to agriculture graduates and others.

A record of Rs 100 billion in loans issued through Kisan Card, 99% recovery rate was also achieved.

900,000 farmers were registered through Kisan Card, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to continue the registration.

The target of 30,000 tractors is under the Green Tractor Scheme, 20,000 tractors have been received by farmers.

The meeting was briefed that due to the Green Tractor Scheme and agricultural mechanization, local industry has started to flourish. Local manufacturers are also actively working in Daska to manufacture harvesters locally.

Maryam Nawaz said that farmers will not be affected, agricultural development is being built on sustainable foundations. By the grace of Allah Almighty, we have the honor of bringing a real agricultural revolution in two years.
