FIFA has made a major financial decision for the 2026 Football World Cup, announcing that the prize money and fees for all teams participating in the tournament will be further increased.
According to a report by the international news agency Al Jazeera, FIFA is currently in consultation with member countries to further improve the financial package for the upcoming World Cup, which will consist of 48 teams.
Several countries expressed concern over the rising costs of participating in the tournament, particularly tax and administrative costs in the United States, after which FIFA agreed to increase the prize money.
FIFA has previously announced record prize money for the 2026 World Cup, totaling between $655 million and $727 million, with each team guaranteed at least $10.5 million.
According to sources, the purpose of the new proposed increase is to ensure that no team suffers financial loss due to participating in the World Cup, but rather to provide better financial support to all teams.
The FIFA Council will give final approval in this regard in the next meeting, after which new details of the prize money and fees paid to the teams will be revealed.
It should be noted that the 2026 Football World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico and for the first time in history, 48 teams will participate in this mega event, which will significantly increase both the size and financial scope of the tournament.
