ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezishkian on the sidelines of the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi, Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the ongoing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in all fields and expressed satisfaction over the progress made on the decisions taken during their previous meeting to further strengthen Pak-Iran relations.
The two leaders also discussed the emerging regional situation in the wake of Israel’s unjustified aggression against Iran. The Prime Minister appreciated President Pezishkian’s leadership and appreciated Iran’s decision to cease hostilities during the recent crisis.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people and government of Iran and reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm resolve to continue working with Iran through dialogue and diplomacy for peace in the region.
President Pezishkian appreciated Pakistan’s strong diplomatic support for Iran during the recent crisis, including in international forums, and thanked Pakistan for its important role in de-escalating the conflict.
The Prime Minister also conveyed to the Iranian President a message of congratulations and best wishes for the Iranian Supreme Leader.
