PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said that according to the vision of the founder PTI, the police are being provided with modern technology and modern weapons so that the scourge of terrorism can be eradicated from the province.

Addressing a ceremony held at Police Lines, the Chief Minister said that decisions taken in closed rooms were being imposed on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due to which the province had to suffer losses, while the sacrifices of the province were not given the importance they deserved.

He said that a negative campaign was launched against them on the anti-drone technology provided in the previous ceremony and an attempt was made on social media to give the impression that this technology had reached terrorists, which is completely wrong.

The Chief Minister said that recruitments are being made in the CTD, the capacity of the Special Branch is being increased and it is hoped that the province will be cleared of terrorism very soon. He said that the police should be kept apolitical and allowed to work independently.

Muhammad Sohail Afridi said that he had met the Prime Minister and everyone is aware of the dissatisfaction between the provincial and federal governments. The federal government should work with the province to formulate a comprehensive and long-term policy against terrorism. He also strongly condemned the incidents in Balochistan.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people, especially the women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to question the performance of their elected representatives through their votes, as no restrictions are imposed on anyone for asking questions.

Before the ceremony, the Chief Minister also distributed bulletproof vehicles and other modern equipment to the police. A total of 22 vehicles, including 18 bulletproof ones, were provided to different districts.

In addition, 300 SMG guns, 10 sniper rifles, more than 4,000 helmets, more than 4,800 bulletproof jackets and 150 motorcycles were also distributed to the southern districts, including the traffic police.
