Pakistan-Tajikistan Cultural Evening Held at Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A vibrant cultural evening jointly organized by The Centaurus Mall and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Islamabad, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Tajikistan and the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

A visiting Tajik cultural troupe presented traditional music, dance and artistic performances, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience. The artists, dressed in colorful traditional attire, highlighted the diverse cultural traditions and artistic heritage of Tajikistan through their energetic and graceful performances.

A major highlight of the evening was a performance by a Tajik singer of the iconic Pakistani national song “Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhay.” The rendition received a standing ovation and loud applause from the audience, symbolizing the close people-to-people bonds and mutual goodwill between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO Centaurus and Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, appreciated the performances of the Tajik artists and thanked the Embassy of Tajikistan for its cooperation in organizing the event.

He particularly acknowledged the collaboration of Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan, H.E. Yusuf Sharifzoda, in promoting cultural diplomacy and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan said cultural exchanges played an important role in bringing nations closer and promoting mutual understanding. He said Pakistan attaches importance to its relations with the Central Asian states and seeks to further strengthen cooperation in tourism, trade, connectivity and culture.

He said the government was working to promote Pakistan as an international tourism destination by highlighting its natural beauty, historical heritage and cultural diversity, while efforts were also being made to improve tourism facilities and create greater opportunities for international cultural engagement.

He noted that Central Asian countries hold an important place in Pakistan’s regional engagement and said improved connectivity and stronger people-to-people contacts could create new opportunities for cooperation.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda thanked the management of The Centaurus for hosting the cultural event and providing a platform for Tajik artists to showcase their traditions and talent before a Pakistani audience.

The ambassador said Tajikistan highly values its friendly and historic relations with Pakistan and considers the country an important partner in the region.

He emphasized that cultural diplomacy was an effective means of strengthening relations between nations, saying such events provide an opportunity for people to understand each other’s traditions, customs and values.

Ambassador Sharifzoda also appreciated the Tajik cultural troupe for its efforts and expressed satisfaction over the warm response from the Pakistani audience. He said the appreciation demonstrated the close affinity and goodwill existing between the peoples of Pakistan and Tajikistan.
