DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says that there are various reasons for the increase in terrorism in the country, including the non-implementation of all the points of the National Action Plan.
While holding an important press conference in Peshawar, DG ISPR said that one of the points of the National Action Plan was that a narrative would be made in this regard, but this was not done either, but talks were talked about with the terrorists.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that after the attack on the Army Public School in 2014, the political and military leadership formulated a joint National Action Plan, but it has not been fully implemented till date.
He said that there is talk of holding talks with the terrorists, but is the solution to every problem in talks? If there are to be talks with the terrorists, then wars would never happen and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would never have fought in the Battle of Badr.
The DG ISPR said that the nexus behind terrorism has local and political backing, and terrorists and their facilitators were given space as part of a well-thought-out plan.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that in the year 2024, 14,535 operations were carried out in KP on intelligence information and 10,115 operations have been carried out so far in 2025, the number of foreigners killed this year is the highest in the last 10 years.
The DG ICPR said that the revised National Action Plan was not implemented, politics on the issue of terrorism is also a reason. He raised the question of why the terrorists were not punished by the courts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? Are we standing on a narrative today?
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that India is using Afghanistan as a base camp for terrorism, while it was decided in the Doha Agreement that the soil of Afghanistan will not be used for terrorism.
In response to a question, DG ISPR said that we have prioritized our politics over terrorism, which is why there has been an increase in terrorism incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past several years. There is no talk about the governance of the province.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that are the army men getting bullets on their chests so that their politics can continue? It is a matter of thinking that how long will this continue, where did this narrative come from today that Afghan refugees should not be sent back?
He said that the ground will be narrowed for terrorists and their facilitators, whoever facilitates foreigners will come to an end, so the public should support them to end the evil of foreigners.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that basically the work of the police has also had to be done by the army, which is because the number of CTD has been kept at 3200, so how will the results be obtained?
DG ISPR said that terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is all political and criminal nexus, thousands of non-customs paid vehicles are important for this political mafia and if smuggling continues, terrorism and explosives will also come with it, the army is also blamed for the smuggling that takes place here.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that other countries including Saudi Arabia tried to convince Afghanistan that every terrorist group has some or the other branch in Afghanistan.
DG ISPR said that the reason for terrorism in Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a misleading narrative, it is hoped that instead of begging for security from Afghanistan to protect the people of KP, the responsible people of the province will protect themselves.
He said that politics was done on the issue of terrorism and the issue was confused, while 70 percent of the terrorist incidents took place in KP, people are being confused that the solution to terrorism is not an operation.
DG ISPR said that 2 years, 3 years, 5 or 6 years ago, look at who is the person or political narrative that says that terrorists should be talked to, at that time they were responsible for the state and today they are not responsible for the state, but today they are saying the same.
Question regarding former DG ISI Faiz Hameed
DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says that all the requirements of justice regarding the allegations against former DG ISI Faiz Hameed will be fulfilled.
During a press conference in Peshawar, on a journalist’s question regarding former DG ISI Faiz Hameed, the Pakistan Army spokesperson clarified that the process of self-accountability in the Pakistan Army is very well-coordinated and good, but the process of self-accountability in the army does not work on mere allegations, the allegations are proven and then punishment is given.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that the one being tried is the former DG ISI and this is a very important matter which has a legal procedure, everyone should understand that all the requirements of justice will be fulfilled in this matter.
DG ISPR said that there is no need to delay the Field General Court Martial, the requirements of justice will be fulfilled and all rights for defense are available in the Pakistani armed forces.
The spokesperson clarified that you should not bring us into politics, politicians are respectable for us but your politics is not above the state, keep your army away from cheap rhetoric and misleading propaganda.
DG ISPR said that the party making the narrative has a microphone, it can give a statement whenever it wants, but the spokesperson of the Pakistan Army cannot sit and answer anyone every day and of course you would not want that either.
At the beginning of the press conference, DG ISPR saluted those martyred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are bravely fighting terrorism.
