In view of the increasing incidents of cyber fraud, WhatsApp has introduced the facility to provide more information about calls coming from unknown numbers.

Through this feature, it will be easy for users to know from which country they are being called and whether the caller is a member of a shared WhatsApp group or not.

Under the new feature, if a WhatsApp call is received from a number that is not saved in the user’s contact list, the name of the relevant country will also appear on the call screen along with the number. Apart from this, the user will also be able to get information whether the caller is included in a shared WhatsApp group or not.

After getting this information, the user will be able to receive the call at his discretion, block the number or report it to the relevant authorities. This move by WhatsApp has been taken to help identify suspicious calls coming from unknown numbers and prevent possible fraud.
