KARACHI: Raza Haroon, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s dissident leader and ex-member of the Sindh Assembly who arrived in Karachi Monday, has announced to join Mustafa Kamal’s caravan.
Addressing a press conference along with Mustafa Kamal and others, Raza Haroon said that Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani had taken courageous step on March 3 by taking stand against the ‘evil’.
Endorsing Mustafa Kamal’s take on MQM’s top leadership, Haroon said: “Everything that Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani bhai had said in March 3 press conferences was absolute truth”.
Slamming the MQM chief, the former MPA asked Altaf Hussain as to when would he return to country from London.
Commenting on the MQM’s connection with RAW, Haroon revealed that only four party members were responsible for the MQM’s connections with the Indian spy agency. He said Sarfaraz Merchant’s documents in this regard are very clear and categorical.
Haroon said: “It’s been one year since the BBC issued RAW-funding allegations against the party and its leadership but the party has yet to approach courts over these allegations”.
Raza Haroon said all the provincial assemblies and those in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir had passed resolutions, slamming the MQM chief’s statements and demanding to initiate high-treason case against him.
He said there is no need for any conspiracy against MQM chief as the latter himself was good enough for the purpose. He said the process for ‘minus- one’ is underway within the MQM and there was no need for any outside conspiracy in this regard. He said the MQM chief has triggered his destruction.
Referring to Lahore High Court’s ban on Altaf Hussain’s images and speeches, he said it was a “blessing in disguise” and many other leaders of the party were also happy over the ban.
“It was not our mistake to join MQM. MQM was not established for the worship of an individual,” he said. He said while MQM chief, Muhammad Anwar and Tariq Mir were arrested in London, protests were held in Karachi.
He asked as to why a protest was staged outside the residence of British Prime Minister against the decision of the Lahore High Court.
Answering his own questions, he said no protest was held in London against the arrest of MQM chief because of a confessional statement of Tariq Mir. Raza Haroon said only four people were mentioned in the confessional statement.
“Despite being in government for so many times, today we have to prove that we are not RAW agents,” he said.” There is not a single assembly where a resolution has not been passed against you. “You are inviting RAW, NATO, and UN to Pakistan, but when are you returning to Pakistan,” he said referring to Altaf Hussain.
He said it was the state’s responsibility to prove allegations.
He said it was not their mistake to join the party, however, today MQM was no longer pursuing the ideology for which he had joined it.
“When the MQM was formed, it was against feudalism and for the rights of the middle class. That ideology got lost somewhere,” he said. “The middle class members have now become feudal lords,” he said.
On the occasion, Mustafa Kamal welcomed Raza Haroon on joining his newly formed party.
To a question, he said that he would reveal the name of his party on March 23, adding that in his first press conference he presented the party’s agenda.
Meanwhile, Anees Qaimkhani refuted media reports that claimed Mustafa Kamal had presented evidences against MQM leadership to the FIA director Shahid Hayat.
“Mustafa Kamal did not present any evidence to Shahid Hayat,” he said.
