According to local sources, an operative belonging to the Khawarij attempted to target a local mosque during Friday prayers today, June 12, with the intent of executing a suicide bombing.

The terrorist was trying desperately to reach the mosque, but timely and courageous action by local citizens successfully neutralized and killed the attacker before he could penetrate the premises.

However, the explosive material attached to his motorcycle detonated, resulting in martyrdom of a five year old girl, and injuries to five other individuals, including children.

The injured are currently being evacuated to the hospital.

Meanwhile, security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched a comprehensive search operation.

Following the incident, severe public anger and outrage against the Khawarij have gripped the residents of Lakki Marwat.
