Karachi: Lahore: It has been 29 years since the uncrowned king of music, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, passed away from his fans.

According to Express News, renowned musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, equally popular in Pakistan and India, captivated the world with his mystical poetry, songs, ghazals and qawwalis during his long career. He was also awarded several national and international awards, including the Presidential Award for his artistic services.

The Shahnash Qawwali opened his eyes on October 13, 1948, in a Qawwal family in Faisalabad, learned the art of Qawwali at the age of 16, and sang ghazals, classical and Sufi songs along with Qawwali.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan used to sing Sufi poetry with such skill that the listeners would be ecstatic. The emperor of voices gave a new dimension to Qawwali along with innovation by using Western instruments, his Qawwali ‘Dum Mast Qalandar Ali Ali’ enjoys global popularity.

Meri Zindagi Hai To, Kisde Da Yaar Na Vachde, Tum Ak Gorakh Dhanda Ho, Yeh Jo Halka Halka Sarwar Hai, Allah Ho Aur Wahi Khuda Hai and many other qawwalis are still keeping the great singer alive.

More than 125 audio albums of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s qawwali have been released, his name is also included in the Guinness Book of World Records, he has also been awarded several national and international awards including Pride of Performance.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan passed away on August 16, 1997, after suffering a heart attack in a London hospital, but he is still alive in the hearts of his fans.
