India releases more water, warns of high flood levels in Chenab and Sutlej

Lahore: After India released more water into Pakistan’s rivers, a warning of very high flood levels has been issued in the Chenab and Sutlej rivers.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, very high flood levels will persist at Ganda Singhwala, while high flood levels will occur at Panjnad in the Chenab river from September 4 to 5.

There is also a risk of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur divisions in the next 24 hours.

The flood situation in the rivers of Punjab continues, while India released more water into the Sutlej river this morning, which may cause high flood levels in Harike and Ferozepur.

The Indian High Commission contacted Pakistan and informed the Ministry of Water Resources, India informed about the flood relay at 8 am this morning.

Yesterday too, India released a large flood in the Sutlej River.

PDMA Punjab

According to the PDMA spokesperson, the water flow at the Sutlej River Ganda Singh Wala is 253,000 cusecs and the water flow at the Sulemanki is 124,000 cusecs.

A large flood in the Chenab River is moving towards South Punjab.

The water flow at the Marala is 96,000 cusecs and the water flow at the Khanki Headworks is 120,000 cusecs. The water flow at the Qadirabad is 135,000 cusecs.

There is a very high level of flood at the Head Trimon. The water flow at the Head Trimon is 516,000 cusecs and is continuously increasing.

The water flow at the Ravi River Jasr is 54,000 cusecs and the water flow at the Shahdara is 60,000 cusecs.

The water flow at the Baloki headworks is 137,000 cusecs and the water flow at the Sadhanai headworks is 177,000 cusecs.

Relief Commissioner Punjab

Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed says that there is a risk of very high level of floods in the rivers Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab of Punjab by September 5. There is a risk of an extraordinary increase in the flow of the rivers due to rains in the upper areas.

According to the Relief Commissioner, in view of the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, all the relevant departments are on alert, all resources are being utilized to protect the lives and property of the citizens.
