The Pakistan Cricket Board has submitted the details of the expenses, income and profits of PSL 2026 to the Senate Standing Committee on the Cabinet Secretariat.
The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on the Cabinet Secretariat was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Senator Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, in which PCB officials gave a briefing.
According to PCB officials, increasing the number of teams in the PCL to 8 increased the profit from 2 billion to 7.5 billion. The total expenses on PSL 2026 exceeded 2 billion 645.4 million, while the total income was more than 10 billion 195.2 million.
According to the report, the PCB earned a pre-tax profit of more than 7 billion 549.8 million from PSL 2026, while in 2024 this profit was 2 billion 460 million and in 2025 this profit was 2 billion rupees.
The briefing said that there are now 8 teams in the PSL, the seventh team was sold for Rs 1.75 billion, the eighth team for Rs 1.85 billion, while Multan Sultan was sold for Rs 2.45 billion. In PSL 2026, Rs 8.80 billion was received as franchise fee.
The meeting was informed that the board’s share of central pool revenue was Rs 1.29 billion, 2.271 million, 849 million, other income was Rs 95 million, media rights are sold as sources of income, teams pay bidding fees every year, these funds are regularly audited. 95 percent of the funds from broadcasting rights, gate money and sponsors go to the teams, while five percent of the funds go to the PCB.
Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, while giving a briefing on the salaries of Pakistan Cricket Board employees, said that the salaries of senior PCB officers range between Rs 1.2 and 2.4 million.
He said that three board members are nominated by the Prime Minister, 11 board members elect the chairman themselves, committee member Sadia Abbasi said that there should be a female member in the board, and all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan should be represented in the board.
Sameer Ahmed said that this can happen only if the cabinet approves it, he said that a cricket stadium is built for Rs 12 to 14 billion, Rs 5 billion will be spent on the renovation of Karachi’s cricket stadium, while the Islamabad Cricket Stadium is being built by CDA.
