ISLAMABAD: The curious case of film ‘Maalik’ has been a headline story ever since its release. Although the ban had been lifted by SHC still the federal government decided to take the case inside Supreme Court.
The appeal against the verdict of lifting the ban was filed by Ministry of Law on behalf of the federal government.
The federal government in its appeal was of the opinion that inclusion of controversial material inside the movie had made it unfit for screening and that is why the decision should be reviewed.
The federal government also stated in its appeal that the government had always appreciated the release of movies based upon healthy subjects however; it could not allow the release of movies that are full of controversial material.
The federal government in its appeal requested the Supreme Court to retain ban on the movie.
