The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has stopped the sale of sugar through its portal across the country, while the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has expressed serious reservations over the decision to stop the sale of sugar to sugar mills across the country through the FBR portal.
In a statement issued by the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, the Sugar Mills Association said that there is no restriction on the sale and price of imported sugar, which is a clear contradiction.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has expressed fears that adopting such a policy will create a severe crisis in the market and prices will increase due to sugar shortage, for which the sugar industry cannot be held responsible.
The Sugar Mills Association strongly demanded that all sugar mills be allowed to sell sugar.
