Indian media reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rejected the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) request to host a bilateral Test series between India and Pakistan.
The ECB approached the BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), according to the English newspaper The Telegraph, and offered to serve as a neutral host for the much-awaited bilateral Test series between the two rivals.
The chance of Pakistan and India playing bilateral cricket for the first time in more than 15 years now exists thanks to England’s offer to serve as a neutral host for the Pakistan-India Test series, according to The Telegraph.
The Telegraph gave its justification for the offer: “The matches will attract enormous audiences in the United Kingdom, which has a strong South Asian population, and it will also bring a lot of sponsorship and television viewers.
“However, the BCCI has rejected the informal approach from the English Board as the chances of a bilateral series in the near future are “next to nil,” according to a report citing a close source to the Indian cricket body.
In the meantime, the PCB has adopted the same approach and shown reluctance to play India in a neutral site.
Nothing was accepted because it was an unofficial offer. PCB wants to host India because it is officially Pakistan’s turn
