The World Wrestling Entertainment’s CEO and Chairman, Vince McMahon, said on Friday that he would leave those roles in about a month due to an investigation into his alleged misbehaviour.
The board was investigating the 76-year-old McMahon’s agreements to pay $12 million over the previous 16 years to resolve allegations of sexual misbehaviour and infidelity.
McMahon pledged last month to support the WWE investigation. In his Friday comments, he made no mention of the probe. Vince McMahon named his daughter Stephanie McMahon as WWE’s interim CEO in June.
WWE is the organization that produces and airs the twice-weekly wrestling shows “Raw” and “Smackdown.”The driving force behind the wrestling entertainment business, Vince McMahon, took it from a small regional player in the 1980s’ highly fragmented market to a multi-billion dollar enterprise in 2021.
