Court orders immediate release of actress Samar Rana in domestic worker rape and torture case

A local court in Lahore has discharged actress Samar Rana in the domestic worker torture and sexual assault case and ordered her immediate release.

According to Express News, a significant development came in the case of torture and sexual assault on a 14-year-old domestic worker when the local court discharged the arrested accused actress Samar Rana from the case.

Judicial Magistrate Zeb Shahzad Cheema also ordered the immediate release of Samar Rana.

The court directed that action be taken against the investigating officer for not producing the accused in court within 24 hours of arrest.

In today’s hearing, the police requested for the physical remand of the accused, which the court rejected and remarked that no accused can be remanded unnecessarily mechanically.

The court remarked that the record was reviewed and there was no material against the accused Samar Rana. Accused Samar Rana is discharged from the case due to lack of evidence.

Stage actress Samar Rana was produced before the court by the Investigation Police Nawab Town.

Earlier, it was written in the FIR that a 14-year-old girl working at Samar Rana’s house was allegedly raped by five people and the actress tortured and frightened the maid.
