- NAB confiscates record from various departments

Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has been rocked by a massive scandal of alleged corruption, well placed sources have confided to Daily The Patriot. Allama Iqbal Open University which is the pioneer institute in long distance learning in not only Pakistan but in the entire South Asia is under the radar of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the accountability bureau has started investigation against corrupt officials of the university and have confiscated record from various departments of the university.
According to well placed sources Allama Iqbal Open University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui had expressed his commitment to root out corruption from the university when he took charge. However, despite the Vice Chancellor’s desire to root out corruption, the tales of rampant corruption have also reached the accountability bureau that has initiated a country-wide investigation.
According to well placed sources the alleged corruption is rampant in various departments. However, the department of Mass Communication of the university and some regional offices are at the center of the corruption scandal.
The university’s public relations department upon contact said that they are not aware of any investigation against the university and maintained that the Vice Chancellor has a strong desire to root out corruption from the university.
