Dubai: The controversial referee Andy Pycroft in the Asia Cup group match will also referee the second Super Four match between Pakistan and India.
According to a report by Cricinfo, Andy Pycroft, who was involved in the controversy over not shaking hands in the match between Pakistan and India on September 14, will also be the referee in the Pak-India match on Sunday.
The Super Four match between Pakistan and India will be played tomorrow (Sunday, September 21) in Dubai, while India had easily defeated Pakistan in the group match on September 14.
It should be remembered that in the group match between Pakistan and India, the players of both teams and the two captains did not shake hands with each other during the toss.
Later, the coach of the Pakistani team said that match referee Andy Pycroft asked the captain of the national team Salman Agha not to shake hands with the Indian captain.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) strongly protested the matter and demanded that the International Cricket Council not give Andy Pycroft responsibility in other matches and threatened to boycott the match against the United Arab Emirates.
After the PCB’s protest, Andy Pycroft apologized to the Pakistani captain and after that Pakistan played an Asia Cup match against the United Arab Emirates and Andy Pycroft was the referee.
The national team has also canceled its press conference before the Super Four match and has hired the services of a psychologist to improve the team’s performance before the match against India.
