Israel has said that the Gaza ceasefire agreement will not come into effect until the cabinet unanimously approves it.

According to Israeli media, this was announced in a statement issued by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office.

This statement came after US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed on a Gaza ceasefire and Egyptian media claimed that it had come into effect.

A statement issued by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said that the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire will officially begin after the government approves the agreement.

It should be recalled that the foreign news agency Reuters had claimed, citing Egyptian government sources, that the ceasefire agreement had come into effect after it was signed in Egypt at noon.

However, Israeli government sources clarified that the agreement still needs cabinet approval. For this, a meeting will be held at 6 pm today.

The meeting will vote on the Gaza ceasefire agreement. The agreement is expected to be approved, after which the ceasefire will formally come into effect.

Israeli government spokesman Shush Badrosian said that the ceasefire in Gaza will come into effect within 24 hours after the cabinet meeting approves it.

He added that the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners will begin within 72 hours of the ceasefire coming into effect.

It should be recalled that the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which was reached in Egypt today, was signed by the parties, under which the fighting will be stopped for a few days, aid supplies will be allowed to enter Gaza and the release of the hostages will be made possible.
