'Become partners, not enemies', Chinese Foreign Minister's message to India

New Delhi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that China and India should see each other as partners rather than enemies or threats.

He said this during a meeting with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar in the Indian capital New Delhi.

Wang Yi is on a three-day visit to India and is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well.

He said that the two countries should establish a correct strategic understanding and move forward relations on the principles of mutual harmony and benefit.

Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar said during the meeting that India and China want to take their relations in a positive direction after going through a difficult period. He stressed that differences should not turn into disputes and competition into confrontation.

It should be remembered that India and China are making efforts to improve relations after US President Donald Trump’s tariff war and increasing tensions in global politics.

The Chinese Foreign Minister will also visit Islamabad this week, while according to Indian media, Prime Minister Modi may visit China this month.
