PESHAWAR: At least eight people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were killed and eleven others were injured on Thursday due to an explosion in a passenger coach and a firing incident in Peshawar on Thursday.
AIG Bomb Disposal Squad, Shafqat Malik told media that five kgs of explosive was used in the blast in the passenger coach in Bazid Khel area on Kohat Road. Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital’s (LRH) media spokesperson Jamil Shah told that seven people were killed and eleven others were injured in the explosion. Some of the injured were said to be in critical condition. The casualties were immediately shifted to LRH while rescue workers and the fire brigade staff were trying to control the fire.
According to police, the bomb disposal squad and experts were dispatched to the site of incident to assess the nature of the blast. The explosion came hours after an attack in the provincial capital of KP killing ASI Asif Mehmood near the Yakatoot police station. Police said armed men opened fire on ASI Asif Mehmood’s vehicle near Yakatoot police station as he was travelling with his son to drop him to school. Asif Mehmood died on the spot, police said, adding that the assailants sped away on their motorcycle after the attack.INP
