Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pak-China friendship is higher than mountains and deeper than oceans, now with genomics cooperation, Pak-China friendship has become as meaningful as the human genome.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, Ahsan Iqbal said this during a visit to the headquarters of the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) in Guangzhou.

On this occasion, the institute also announced the provision of 500 training scholarships for Pakistani experts.

Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister said that cooperation in genomics is a new chapter in Pak-China friendship, both countries are moving beyond building roads and power plants to understanding the basic map of life, CPEC 2.0 is a guarantee of a bright future based on health, food security and innovation through genomics and biotechnology.

He said that cooperation is not limited to the treatment of diseases but also paves the way for prosperity in both countries, Pak-China friendship is higher than mountains and deeper than seas.

Ahsan Iqbal said that now with genomics cooperation, Pak-China friendship has become as meaningful as the human genome, and under the Belt and Road Initiative and CPEC, genomics will not be a limited facility but will be made a public blessing.

He said that through genomics cooperation, Pakistan and China are investing in a healthy population, food security and a knowledge-based economy, which will have far-reaching effects.
