President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan is committed to protecting its national interests, territorial sovereignty and security. Pakistan will never accept any controversial or misleading position on Jammu and Kashmir. Every illegal claim by India regarding Kashmir is against international laws and UN resolutions.
According to a statement issued by the Press Wing of the Presidential Palace, President Asif Ali Zardari, while reacting to the aggression by Afghanistan, said that Pakistan is committed to protecting its national interests, territorial sovereignty and security.
Expressing regret, the President said that the Afghan leadership has done injustice to both history and the nation by turning its back on the freedom struggle of the oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the attacks of the Fitna al-Khawarij from the territory of the interim Afghan government are a proven fact according to the United Nations reports. Pakistan has repeatedly made it clear that Pakistani citizens and security personnel are being targeted by the nexus of Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
The President urged the Afghan leadership to take practical steps to eliminate anti-Pakistan terrorist elements.
He said that Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan are the biggest threat to the peace and stability of the region. The fight against terrorism is a shared responsibility and its burden cannot be placed on any single country.
He said that Pakistan has set an example of Islamic brotherhood and good neighborliness by hosting the Afghan people for four decades. The honorable return of Afghan citizens along with the restoration of peace is in the interest of both countries.
Asif Zardari said that Pakistan will continue to cooperate with the educational and humanitarian needs of the Afghan people. Pakistan will not compromise on its national sovereignty.
The President said that Pakistan has provided all possible facilities to Afghanistan for the promotion of trade, economy and ties, mutual cooperation and economic partnership are the basis for sustainable peace and development in the region.
Asif Zardari said that Pakistan is the well-wisher of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan, brotherly relations are linked to mutual respect, security cooperation and regional peace.
The President said that Pakistan expects that the interim Afghan government will prevent its territory from being used by terrorist elements of Fitna al-Kharij and Fitna al-Hindustan, joint and practical measures against terrorism are the only guarantee of lasting peace.
