Dubai: The young opener of the Indian cricket team, Abhishek Sharma, performed brilliantly in the Asia Cup 2025 and set a new record in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings.
The ICC has released the rankings of players in T20 cricket, where in the batting department, India’s Abhishek Sharma has set the record for the highest rating in the history of T20, which was previously held by England’s David Malan.
Abhishek Sharma broke the record of 919 ratings set by David Malan 5 years ago in 2020 and achieved 931 rating points and gained a lead of 12 points.
According to the ICC, Abhishek had achieved the milestone of 931 rating points after a brilliant half-century in the Super Four match against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup and created history.
Abhishek Sharma not only broke David Malan’s record but also left his captain Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli behind in the rankings.
The young opener made his international debut last year and has achieved a big milestone in a short period of time and was also named the best player of the tournament in the Asia Cup where he scored a total of 314 runs at an average of 44.85.
Among those who have achieved the most ranking points (rating) in the history of T20 cricket, Abhishek Sharma is followed by England’s David Malan with 919, Suryakumar Yadav is third with 912, Virat Kohli is fifth, Australia’s Aaron Finch is fourth and Pakistan’s Babar Azam is fifth, with ranking points of 909, 904 and 900 respectively.
It should be noted that in the T20 batting rankings, England’s Phil Salt is second, India’s Tilak Verma is third, England’s Jos Buttler is fourth and Sri Lanka’s Patham Nissanka is fifth.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has made a big leap in the rankings after his excellent batting in the Asia Cup and has reached 13th place, while no Pakistani batsman is in the top 10 best batsmen.
