Islamabad: Maulana Fazlur Rehman held an important meeting with the PTI leadership and proposed a Charter of Democracy, which the PTI agreed to, and an APC will be convened soon in this regard.
According to Express News, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, along with a delegation, met with the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. The meeting discussed the current political situation in the country, constitutional and democratic issues, and mutual cooperation between the opposition parties.
The participants strongly condemned the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The participants described the emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as contrary to the sovereignty of the people and democratic principles.
The participants expressed serious concern over the arrests of the arrested PTI Chief Minister, Speaker of the Provincial Assembly and members of the National Assembly. Opposition leaders demanded the immediate release of political prisoners and protection of political freedoms.
Detailed consultations were held in the meeting regarding the holding of an All Parties Conference, and the participants supported Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position on a new Charter of Democracy.
The participants agreed that all political parties should move towards a new democratic charter to overcome the current national crises. The participants described the proposed All Parties Conference as an important initial step towards a new democratic charter.
The PTI delegation included Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, Barrister Ali Zafar, Aamir Mahmood Dogar, Zain Qureshi and Akhundzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai, while the JUI-F delegation included Senator Kamran Murtaza, Mir Younis Zahri and Usman Badini.
Important meeting of PTI leadership
After the meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, an important meeting of the PTI leadership was held in which Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proposal was considered in detail. Later, the PTI agreed to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proposal for a Charter of Democracy.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Chairman PTI Barrister Ali Zafar said that the conditions of the Charter of Democracy will be prepared through consultation. Maulana Sahib has now suggested a Charter of Democracy, and we are consulting on it.
He said that we believe that there should be peace in the country. We will take every stakeholder along for peace. We are consulting on his proposal. After careful consultation, we will support him.
In the media talk, Asad Qaiser said that the government has completely failed on the economic, administrative and governance fronts. Maulana Fazlur Rehman has suggested a Charter of Democracy. In this regard, we are going to call an All Parties Conference. The date is not yet confirmed. Consideration is being given to calling it on November 9 and 10.
