Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran, where he will attend an important meeting regarding the war and regional tensions.
Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defense Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on an official visit, where the military leadership of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey are expected to meet with the Iranian leadership under the Mecca Defense Agreement.

The aim of this important meeting is to discuss security issues and regional cooperation in the context of the ongoing war and increasing tensions in the region.

It should be noted that this meeting will be the first high-level direct contact between the three countries included in the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement and Iran during the current conflict.

According to international news agencies, Saudi Arabia will be represented by Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan will be represented by Field Marshal Asim Munir, while Turkey will be represented by the Intelligence Chief.

It should be recalled that Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey signed a joint defense agreement in Mecca in August 2026, under which an armed attack on one of the member countries will be considered an attack on all three countries. The agreement has agreed to take necessary measures to protect the territorial integrity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders of the member countries.

Following this agreement, the top defense officials of the three countries held an emergency meeting in Riyadh in early October, in which arrangements were agreed on the rapid deployment of military forces and defense capabilities in Saudi Arabia. This development came in the context of growing security concerns in the region.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai has said that the proposal for a four-party meeting in Tehran was presented by Field Marshal Asim Munir during his previous visit to Iran, which was accepted by Iranian officials.

He said that Iran is hosting high-level delegations from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey. The aim of these talks is to explore possibilities for reducing regional tensions.

Ismail Baqai said that the meeting will discuss important regional issues, including Israel’s expansionist policies, developments in Lebanon, and the impact of US and Israeli military operations against Iran.

According to Iranian officials, these contacts could also prove to be an initial step towards creating an effective regional security system that takes into account the interests of the countries in the region.
