Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced further facilitations to the petroleum subsidy scheme for the poor and middle classes; under his directive, the registration messaging service for the scheme has been made completely free of charge.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, the scheme provides fuel subsidies to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.
Registration for the scheme can be completed by sending a free text message to 9771 in the following format: type 'REG', followed by a space, the CNIC number, the vehicle's license plate number, the first letter of the province of registration, and the vehicle's registration date.
