Paris: The European Union has proposed a ban on social media for children under the age of 13, while a proposal has also been put forward to allow children up to the age of 15 to use social media only in a limited capacity and under parental supervision.

According to the French news agency AFP, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented these proposals to the European Parliament. The aim is to protect children from social media features that encourage users to spend more time on the platform.
