Headingley Test: England beat Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs

England defeated Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs on the third day of the Headingley Test.

In the first Test of the series, Pakistan’s batting line-up failed miserably to overcome a deficit of 238 runs in the second innings and the entire team was dismissed for 135 runs. SouthAsians & Diaspora

Mohammad Rizwan 41 and Shan Masood 29 were prominent for the national team. Abdullah Shafiq 15, Saud Shakeel 14, Azan Owais 9, Khurram Shahzad 8, Ali Usman 7, Mohammad Abbas 6, captain Salman Agha 4 and Imam-ul-Haq were dismissed with individual scores of 0.

For England, Olly Robinson, Jofra Archer and Josh Ting took 3 wickets each. Gus Atkinson led 1 player to the pavilion.

Earlier, on the third day, England started the game at 366 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, when the tail-enders including Jofra Archer played aggressively and took the score to 409 runs.

Jofra Archer remained unbeaten on 23 runs, while Jamie Smith was out for 25 and Josh Ting for 8 runs.

For England, Harry Brook (91), Jordan Cox (73), captain Joe Root (66) and Dean Lawrence (51) played an important role in scoring a big score by scoring half-centuries.

For Pakistan, Ali Usman took 5 wickets for the first time in Test cricket. Apart from them, Khurram Shahzad took 3 while Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali took one wicket each.

It should be remembered that the Pakistan team was all out for 171 runs in the first innings.
