Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met separately with the US Charge d’Affaires and the Chinese Ambassador.
Today, on the occasion of Independence Day, important diplomatic activities were witnessed in the federal capital, where Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar was met separately by US Charge d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong.
In these important meetings, along with bilateral relations, the recent regional situation was also discussed.
According to the Foreign Office, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong met Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which the Deputy Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic death of a Chinese mountaineer in an avalanche incident on Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Ishaq Dar assured the Chinese Ambassador that Pakistan would provide all possible facilities in the process of repatriating the body of the deceased mountaineer. The Chinese Ambassador appreciated the immediate assistance and cooperation provided by the Pakistani authorities after the accident.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest between Pakistan and China were also discussed, while the latest developments in the region were also part of the conversation.
The Chinese ambassador extended heartfelt greetings to the Pakistani people and leadership on Pakistan’s Independence Day. He also reiterated the close and time-tested relations between Pakistan and China on this occasion.
On the other hand, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker also met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in which bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the US and the recent situation in the region were discussed in detail.
Ishaq Dar welcomed the positive developments in Pakistan-US relations. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to achieve lasting peace and clarified Pakistan’s diplomatic stance.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the implementation of the June 18 Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in accordance with its spirit and intent is the only way forward. He made it clear that Pakistan is committed to regional peace and security while safeguarding its national interests.
The US Chargé d’Affaires appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region. Natalie A. Baker also congratulated Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The topics of regional progress and peace and stability were prominent in these separate meetings of Chinese and US diplomatic representatives, while Pakistan expressed its commitment to continue diplomatic relations and mutual cooperation with both countries.
