President, PM vow to expand digital access nationwide

ISLAMABAD : President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed Government’s commitment to expand digital access and improve connectivity across the country.

In their separate messages on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day being observed today, they paid tribute to all individuals associated with telecommunications sector in Pakistan for their professional commitment. 

The President said Pakistan’s telecommunications sector continues to contribute significantly to national development.

Asif Ali Zardari said efforts are underway to advance fibre deployment and finalize satellite communications regulations for remote regions.

The Prime Minister said government remains committed to the rapid implementation of 5G in the country, the completion of the National Fiberization Policy and the promotion of local device manufacturing.

He said country’s digital sector is also growing rapidly, with annual IT exports reaching three point eight billion dollars.
