Pakistan faced a heavy fine and a deduction of World Test Championship points for a slow over-rate in the first Test against Bangladesh.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan 40 percent of its match fee and deducted eight points from the 2025-27 World Test Championship.
The Pakistan team fell eight overs short of the target, leading to the punishment.
After the points deduction, Pakistan has now slipped further to eighth place in the World Test Championship standings with just four points.
The punishment was handed down to the Pakistan team by ICC Elite Panel match referee Jeff Crowe.
According to ICC rules, a fine of five percent of the match fee and one World Test Championship point is deducted for each under-over.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood admitted his mistake and accepted the proposed punishment, after which there was no need for a formal hearing.
