This is the last day of the HPV vaccine catch-up campaign, in which Punjab province has topped the country with 90 percent coverage in the cervical cancer prevention vaccination campaign.
Provincial Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir said that parents of girls who have not been vaccinated for any reason can get this vaccination from health centers today. Despite all the challenges and false propaganda, the Expanded Program for Immunization team worked hard and dedicatedly.
He said that 6.7 million girls aged 9 to 14 were vaccinated in the HPV vaccination campaign. The Minister for Health and Population also congratulated the Expanded Program for Immunization team for conducting the successful HPV vaccination campaign.
He added that the cervical cancer prevention vaccine has now been included in the routine course. From now on, this vaccine will be available for nine-year-old girls in the immunization course, while this is the 13th vaccine in the list of routine immunizations of EPI Punjab.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said that the vaccine is certified by the World Health Organization, 147 countries of the world have included the HPV vaccine in their routine immunization list, while Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Libya, Kuwait and Morocco are also using this vaccine.
