Lahore: Director General (DG) of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Irfan Ali Kathia has said that the monsoon has not ended but the rivers in the province have returned to normal levels.

Director General (DG) PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia told a press conference that the monsoon has completely ended, all the rivers that were there have returned to normal, there is no peak in Chenab from Marala to Panjnad and the water from Jasar to Sadhanai has returned to normal levels.

He said that the flow on Sutlej is high, ponding is ending in many places, a 22-kilometer area of ​​M5 Motorway is closed due to water and it is being restored, and a ponding of ten to twelve kilometers has been formed on the motorway.

He said that the Gilani Expressway is flowing towards Chenab, the level of the Chenab River is coming down, the road from Jalalpur to Lodhran is closed for traffic.

The DG said that 4795 cases were affected in 28 districts, a total of 407,030 people were affected by the flood, 331 camps have been set up in South Punjab, 106,000 people are living in relief camps in Alipur and Jalalpur.

He said that there are 425 medical camps, clinics are also in wells, now boats have also been evacuated due to lack of water, a total of 612,833 people have been evacuated in the flood-affected districts.

He said that a total of 2 million animals were evacuated in the flood, 123 deaths have been reported due to the flood so far, 2582,000 acres of land have been affected.

The DG PDMA said that the most crop damage occurred in Gujarat and Faisalabad, with maize crop damaged, rice crop damaged by 15 percent, sugarcane crop damaged by 13 percent and cotton crop damaged by 5 percent.

Irfan Ali Kathia said that there were reports of 824 animals going missing but a survey will be conducted now.
