Lahore: Information and Culture Minister Uzma Bukhari says that the situation in Punjab is currently very serious due to floods, so do not go to social media news, do not spread it unless there is official news.
While holding a press conference at DGPR Lahore, the Information Minister said that there is neither fear of God nor Pakistaniness in a creature who creates chaos by propaganda, did not prohibit giving food, the riot party has no relief work, they always take donations from the streets, they do not know that people have drowned, they are just doing propaganda.
He said that politics is also being done on testing food and giving it to the flood-affected people, before this, people were affected by eating poisonous food, this is not doing the work of providing relief to the people of Punjab. At this time, the people are seeing who is standing with them and who is doing propaganda.
Uzma Bukhari said that for the first time I agree with Ali Amin Gandapur’s statement on Kalabagh Dam, there is a need to make a National Action Plan or the best strategy at the national level. Maryam Nawaz’s commitment is that we need to work on these dams, if there is a flood in Sindh, we will suffer, so we have to sit down and decide because dams are inevitable.
The Information Minister said that if it seems better to write a letter to the PPP, then Maryam Nawaz is doing a good job even without their advice, everyone’s life, including the robbers of Kachha, is important, if they come out and surrender, they will get all the facilities.
Flood and relief work
Uzma Bukhari said that overall the flood situation in Punjab is under control and the water on the Ravi is decreasing rapidly, however, the water pressure is highest at the Trimu head works, due to rain and flood, there is a double challenge.
He said that when the Chief Minister of Punjab went to Jhang, a briefing was given on the head trims, Maryam Nawaz also visited the field hospital during her visit to Jhang, the health department has to provide facilities to the flood victims, the lack of facilities in DHQs and THQs has to be addressed. There is a fear of spreading medical diseases, on which a strategy is being decided.
Uzma Bukhari said that a total of more than 3243 villages have been affected, more than 24 lakh 52 thousand population has been declared affected, so far 9 lakh 99 thousand 86 people have been shifted to safe places, the number of safe transfer of livestock is 7 lakh 08 thousand 940.
She said that a total of 395 relief camps have been established in which more than 14 thousand 393 people are staying. In addition, 392 medical camps and 336 veterinary camps have been established, the total number of deaths is 41.
Uzma Bukhari clarified that the complaints of flood victims are being redressed as soon as possible within a few hours, those who are trapped in the flood are being rescued and the government is saving the flood victims through the helpline, 30 people have been rescued from the flood-affected area in Toba Tek Singh.
He said that the flood rail head is about to reach Muhammad Wal, the water storage capacity of the head is 417 feet and so far the water has reached 407 feet, preparations are being made to save Multan from the flood. There is no tent settlement in Lahore, only relief camps, whether it is a government camp or a private institution camp, its name should be mentioned.
Uzma Bukhari said that 3233 villages have been affected by the flood, 1 million people have been shifted to safe places, they are being provided with good accommodation and food, for the first time in the country’s history, 708,000 cattle have been rescued, the death toll has reached 41 and 8 have been injured. People have also died due to lightning strikes.
The Information Minister said that the Punjab government is ready for Indian water and the Bhakra Dam, which is along the Sutlej, has also been filled, Rescue 1122 personnel are tired of fighting the flood situation but they have to be encouraged, just as Maryam Nawaz did not leave the people alone, they will not rest until one house is built.
