The district administration of Bajaur on Monday announced a 12-hour curfew across all main highways of the district from 11am to 11pm as security forces launched a targeted operation in parts of Mamund Tehsil.

A complete curfew has been imposed in 27 areas of Mamund from 11am on August 11 until 11am on August 14, with residents instructed to halt all activities by 10:30am and remain indoors during the period, officials said.

Authorities reported that a large number of residents had been displaced from the affected areas over the past several days. To accommodate them, the district administration has evacuated 107 government schools and colleges, while a relief camp with 450 tents has been set up at the Bajaur Sports Complex.

Separately, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed Section 144 across 13 districts for seven days in connection with security arrangements for Chehlum of Imam Hussain (A.S).

The restrictions apply to Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Nowshera, Kurram, Mardan, and Lakki Marwat.

The orders ban motorcycle pillion riding, wall chalking, provocative speeches, display of weapons, aerial firing, use of loudspeakers, and fireworks. Authorities have also prohibited people from standing on rooftops along the routes of Chehlum processions and barred Afghan nationals from gathering in public places.
